I Wanted Love

I wanted love
Like a conflagration
Like a commemoration
Like a conservation
Like a conversation
Like a decision but a circumstance
Like the gift of chance
Like a leap and a dance
Like the south of France
Or like great romance
Like an ocean wide and deep
Like a mountain hard and steep
Like sacrifice, a lamb, a sheep
Like a caught breath, a gasp, a weep

Like a feels so good, I can’t get to sleep
Like an endeavor, the harvest, a joy to reap
Like a quiet sigh
Like a lowered eye
Like a severed tie
Like a lover’s lie
Like a soft
Defeated
Goodbye…
