Staying strong for too long makes you weak.

Once the pressure builds too much,
it feels like all of the air is taken from your lungs.
It hurts, and you feel weak that it hurts.
Silent tears turn into heavy sobs,
and who do you vent to?
You’re the strong friend.

The strong friend that breaks in private.
Laying in bed,
weighing decisions, overthinking consequences.
Maintaining emotionlessness for too long
results in emotions eventually coming in like waves.
And now you’re drowning in tears,
lost in a situation,
in which peace seems to be oceans away.
Who is your lifeguard supposed to be?
You’re the strong friend.
