Venus Spotlight: London Grammar
Honestly, I’m embarrassed it took me so long to find London Grammar.
This British trio composed of Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman, and Dominic 'Dot' Major has been making waves in the UK music scene for a couple years now and made their American television debut on Jimmy Fallon back in 2014. While they’ve only released one EP and a full-length album thus far, their sound is something that is enduring and perfect for a rainy day. The album If You Wait has become a personal favorite of mine and I will admit to singing along incredibly loudly both in the car and in the shower, but Hannah Reid’s vocal prowess is something that can’t be matched. The sheer amount of talent she has is truly astounding. I think I’ve cried to Wasting My Young Years about eight times now, as the song perfectly captures what it feels like to be unsure if what you’re doing is worth it. So if you like dream pop, ethereal lady voices, and quietly sobbing because what you’re hearing is so beautiful, you’ll dig London Grammar.
